The Northampton Community College (NCC) Athletic Department recently held their annual Awards Banquet, where student-athletes were honored for their various athletic and academic achievements throughout the 2018-19 season.

ESU to Graduate 1,187 Students at Three Commencement Exercises
A total of 1,187 students will receive degrees from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at separate commencement exercises for undergraduate and graduate students on May 10 and May 11. ESU will hold three graduation ceremonies: one for graduate students on Friday, May 10 at 6:45 p.m. and two ceremonies for undergraduate students on Saturday, May 11. The undergraduate ceremonies will take place at 8:45 a.m. (College of Arts and Sciences and College of Education) and at 1:15 p.m. (College of Business and Management and College of Health Sciences). All three ceremonies will be held in Koehler Fieldhouse. A total of 995 bachelor's degrees, 188 master's degrees and four doctoral degrees will be awarded.

First Cohort of Clear Path Scholars Set to Graduate
East Stroudsburg University's first cohort of Clear Path Scholars is set to graduate at the university's annual spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11. The cohort of 13 scholars was celebrated at a cording ceremony on April 28, where the students were given red and grey cords and pins to wear on commencement day.

NCC Students Travel to Central America to Work in a Hospital
Twelve Northampton Community College (NCC) students provided supervised hands-on care for patients at Western Regional Hospital in Belize, a country off the eastern coast of Central America. Marie Everhart, nursing professor, and Nathan Carpenter, director of global education and international services, accompanied the students on their healthcare educational trip, from March 9-16.

Northampton Community College's (NCC) Ethics Bowl Team Took First Place
Northampton Community College's (NCC) Ethics Bowl Team took home the top title at the 10th Fleming Institute for Business Ethics 2019 Ethics Bowl Competition, held at DeSales University on March 27. The NCC team, comprised of students Alexa Koorie, Devon Pfeifer and Noah Troxell beat out teams from DeSales University, Penn State Lehigh Valley, Penn State Berks, and Wilkes University to earn first place.

Being a FYE Mentor is a dynamic and challenging role for students with leadership skills and desire to work with new students. It is an opportunity to create a positive Cedar Crest college experience and assist with the transition that students face when entering college. Responsibilities include leading new students through the transition to college by helping them understand the challenges of college; connecting them with students, faculty and staff; educating them about academic and co-educational program and services; and exposing them to our rich heritage and traditions centered in women's leadership. FYE Mentors facilitate small groups, assist with resident student move-in, organize programs and schedules and co-teach a College Life course in the fall semester and the Exploring Your Future course in the spring semester.
